Kevin Aucoin – The Sensual Skin Enhancer

With over 20 years in the beauty industry I’ve yet to come across a product quite like this.  Essentially inside this tiny 18gm pot is a super-pigmented foundation and when I first tried it I’ll confess I really didn’t like it.  This baby is coverage +++ not my thing at all! I prefer a sheer, radiant foundation and being able to see some skin. So in the cosmetic burial ground drawer it went.

But recently I decided to give it another try in the hope of discovering why this product has gained such a huge following and cult status. I don’t give up easy and assumed I must be doing something wrong.

Now I can’t live without it.

Sesora Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer

The Sensual Skin Enhancer is one of the greatest multi-tasking products in my makeup bag and here is how I use it…

Pre –Base Concealer

Before popping on my BB Cream I tap a little around the eyes and any areas of redness then blend with my fingertips.  It takes a bit of persistence to blend but you are rewarded with incredible coverage that is sheer and natural.  It stays put too when I apply a sheer layer of BB over the top something other concealers fail to do.  The end result is a “no makeup” makeup effect which we all love! This is great for days when I have mere minutes to get ready and don’t have time to do the entire skin care routine.  I simply conceal with this beauty, BB, brows, blush, mascara, lippy and go!

Flawless Full Coverage

If you do want a flawless, cover everything makeup then this is your go-to.  Apply your moisturiser as normal and place tiny dots of the foundation all over the face until you look like you have makeup measles then blend, blend and blend some more.  It does take quite a bit of effort to blend but the end result is perfect and airbrushed.  I use my fingers to blend but you could use a buffing brush or beauty blender sponge if you prefer.

Custom Foundation or Tinted Moisturiser

This is how I use the Sensual Skin Enhancer each day.  Apply a tiny smear of product on your hand and mix with your favourite moisturiser, and then blend it into your skin.  You can use as much or as little as you like to achieve the desired coverage.

This was how much I used to cover my entire face and neck and this was way too much!

It comes in a tiny 18gm pot however, after a month’s use I’ve barely scratched the surface.  This should last at least a year with daily use.

I’ve read many reviews on this that claim the ingredients will exacerbate acne however the small amount used would not put this on the comedogenic scale,  so in a nutshell I don’t agree.  Mixed with an oil free acne treatment moisturiser I believe it would be quite effective for acne sufferers.  And that is what I love about this product so much, it’s so highly pigmented that you can add it to anything for exactly the coverage you want; your eye cream, a concealer, moisturiser, foundation or even a cheek and lip stain, the list is endless.  And the bonus is that you can mix it according to your skin’s needs; on days when your skin is dry and lacklustre you can mix it to luminous moisturiser and an days when your skin is oily and congested you can mix it with a lightweight balancing formulation.

There are 15 colours to choose from so you should find a good match for your skin. You can find the Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer here and I hope you like it as much as I do!
