November Favourites

November is always a bit of a hectic month for me; balancing work and social obligations and I’m sure I’m not alone there!  Finding time to go out shopping for new beauty bits has been impossible, probably good for my purse which is sure to get a bashing over Christmas.

So I’ve been pulling out some of the lost and forgotten items in my beauty drawers that I’ve neglected recently and remembering why I love them.

First up is a palette I picked up at my local MAC counter a few months ago.  The MAC Brown Face Kit Illustrated by *Rebecca Moses caught my eye for a few reasons; 1) I’m addicted to kits, I love the idea of everything in one place to help me pull a quick harmonious look together 2) I loved the packaging and have always loved Rebecca Moses illustrations 3) a girl can never have enough browny nude shades.

The problem with so many of my makeup kits is that I only use a couple of items in each kit which seems such a waste, but this kit is different and I can honestly say I love and use EVERY shade.

So what does it contain?

sesora Mac brown face palette

A peachy blush: MAC Melba, natural, matte and very pretty.  Eye shadows- Orb a warm creamy highlight shade, All that Glitters a great wash of bronze, Smoked Sepia a mid-brown with a touch of shimmer (not too much) and Showstopper, a deep matte brown.  It also has two gorgeous lip shades; Ravishing and Myth which is a lovely pinky nude that would wonderful on almost anyone.

While the MAC website is out of stock of this palette I have seen them in David Jones so if you can, pick one up asap as they won’t be around for long!

I have also been loving my new Nar Lip Pencil in Tonga, it’s a lovely nude that forms a great base for any lip colour or can be used over the entire  lip for a chic natural look.  I find nude shades are often too orange or tan and was so happy when I discovered this one.  It holds well too, while soft and creamy and easy to apply it stays put for hours.

Late nights and not drinking nearly enough water (nothing new there) has meant my eyes have been suffering from puffiness and dark circles.  In pursuit of the perfect corrector (there are some great ones out there) I decided to release my own; ELES Dual Action Concealer.  You guessed it, this is my favourite ELES product.  It’s warm peachy tone counteracts the dark shadows yet it is so silky and light so won’t cake in the creases.  It sets to a nice satin finish.  Use sparingly for best results.

Stepping out into Sydney’s warm summer weather has meant lighter clothing so consequently my bare legs were looking very pale and erm….luminous but not in a good way!  Not being a fan of fake tanning I’ve needed to take the edge of the white glow and have been reaching for the St Tropez Instant Glow Body Lotion.  I mix a little into my body moisturiser and it gives me a soft wash of bronze that makes everything look a little less scary.  It washes off in the shower so no oompa loompa buildup!

My go to nail colour for the month has been another ELES product; Coral Café from our new Brighton Collection. It’s summery, peachy and so feminine and a big favourite in our office.  The new brush makes painting the nails so easy too, two swipes on each nail and you are done.  The extra thick formula is a bonus too, great colour payoff and fewer coats required.  If I’m in a real hurry, one will suffice!

On the skin front I’ve been loving the Aesop Parsley Seed Mask.  This olive green concoction seems to balance everything; reduces oiliness and pore size while deeply hydrating.  It’s the perfect mask for putting things right when skin gets out of whack.  It’s a little stimulating when you first apply it but this passes quickly and a thin coat is all you need.  It dries on the skin and during the process you may look as though you are sporting some army camouflage but the results when you remove it are worth it, clean, calm yet glowing skin.

Finally I’ve revived a fragrance which I’ll admit I didn’t love when I first got it; Jo Malone’s English Pear and Freesia.  I believe fragrance changes with your body chemistry and mine has no doubt changed.  Described as; the essence of autumn with a sensuous freshness of just-ripe pears wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias, and mellowed by amber, patchouli and woods. It is very wearable and subtle enough for day time and I’m addicted to it.

As usual I’ve culled the final list as there are so many other products I’ve been enjoying this month including Lush Bath Ballistics and my beloved Pevonia Enzymo-Spherides Peeling Cream, but more on those later.  So what have you been loving this month? I’d love to hear from you!

Have a wonderful December!
